PORTSMOUTH, VA – 05/14/2019 – Today, attorney Don Scott formally announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination to represent the 80th District in Virginia’s House of Delegates, following Delegate Matthew James’ resignation earlier this month.
“I’m ready to serve the City of Portsmouth and the Commonwealth of Virginia. My story is one of resilience, and I believe the City of Portsmouth is resilient as well.”
The campaign platform will focus on economic equality, education, and criminal justice reform.
A graduate of Texas A&M University and LSU Law School, Don opened his own firm in 2015 after serving his country as a Naval officer and a successful corporate career. He sits on numerous boards and commissions and is active in his church.
A caucus for the Democratic nomination will be held at 9 AM on June 1, 2019, at I.C. Norcom High School.
